Mark

I’ve been watching Big Brother since the very first episode, but I didn’t truly fall in love with the show until Season 7, All-Stars. So of course, my favourite player of all time is Dr. Will Kirby (hence Kirby Your Enthusiasm). Few people have had as much success in this game as Will, and he did it without winning a single competition. He was a master of manipulation. In season 7, he convinced Janelle to do his bidding despite her best interest, and when she found out, she said, “Will! You stabbed me in the back!” to which he responded with a smile on his face, “aww, Janelle...no...I stabbed you in your front.”

After the first episode, I picked Candice to win. LET ME DEFEND MYSELF! yes...this is quite possibly the worst pick I could have made. I’ll be surprised if she lasts longer than 3 weeks. Every year there seems to be someone who overplays the game. They make alliances with everyone they can, and it bites them in the ass. Sometimes it’s best to sit in the background and let the game happen around you. It appears I overcompensated in my thinking this year. Candice has the same competitive spirit as a large bowl of mayonnaise sitting in the sun.

Samantha

Sam is a practical nurse turned stay at home mom living in Kelowna, BC. She blogs about life, love and her sweet baby girl over at My Happily Ever After. When Sam was away at school, with nothing but the Kootenay mountains and the long spans of time that come with shift work between her and her Fiance (now husband) Tim, she binge watched numerous seasons of Big Brother. It was then that her passion for the show developed. Her favorite player is season 11 & 13's Jeff. Mainly because she loves Jordan but is far too smart to identify her as a good player in any sort of capacity other than worlds best floaters. She also enjoys Will Kirby from season 2 and 7, but who doesn't? No one but the Doctor can blatantly insult people, ask to be evicted, and still manage to stay in the house.

After the first episode I picked Nick to win. I make this mistake every season it seems. Last season it was Shane. I pick the obviously smart, athletic guy that seems to have it all together. This means that they are obviously a big threat. We'll see if Nick can use his skills wisely and fly under the radar, or if everyone will recognize his innate capacity for success and in turn, send him packing.

Matt

I've been watching the BB for a few years now. I remember watching the first season many years ago and being less than impressed. I was young and naive, not understanding the nuances of such a complex competition. I didn't watch another season till season 7. Not sure what compelled me to give the show another chance, but I'm glad I did. I'm probably the least die-hard of our quartet here, but I thoroughly enjoy the show. I believe future anthropologists will study Big Brother and learn a great deal about the human condition. Whether that will be positive or negative is yet to be seen.

This year I have chosen Amanda. Something about this girl makes me believe she has what it takes. She's smart, careful, and tactful. Unlike say McCrae, Amanda seems to think about what she says. She's not the most boisterous, or the most quite. She's attractive, but not "Jessie" attractive. She's the most intelligent person in the game, but she's smart enough not to let anyone know that.

Tim

My obsession with Big Brother started in season 1, but it took off with season 2. Chill town brought me in and I never went back. I've watched every season, some of them multiple times. I consider myself somewhat of a Big Brother historian (I had very little going on from ages 19-22). My favourite player is Will Kirby, nobody matches him. Dan Gheesling, Mike Boogie, and Danielle Reyes are also among my favourites.

After episode one I picked Spencer to win. He seems level headed, likeable, competitive, and cutthroat. He's the kind of player who you don't even realize is running the show until he's already seen you out the door. I imagine him as a mafia boss ordering the hit while sitting at a restaurant eating his dinner. Then again maybe I'm just idealizing him because I've already picked him. But probably not. Probably the Mafia thing. Fear the beard.
